Porsche has officially opened its new paint shop, a major step in the modernization of its Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen factory. Those who attended the commissioning of this plant include the Baden-Württemberg Minister-President, Winfried Kretschmann, Lord Mayor of Stuttgart, Dr. Wolfgang Schuster, Supervisory Board Chairman, and Dr. Wolfgang Porsche. This new workshop area was finished in time for the start of production for the new Porsche 911. In this facility, the latest elements in technology are used to paint body shells inside and out in the preferred color.
This area is totally free of dust as the plant is completely enclosed. Solvent and particulate emissions are kept to a minimum with the installation of a new electrostatic paint droplet removal system and a wet-chemical exhaust air purification plant. As a result, Porsche can say goodbye to the 60-meter high paint exhaust air collecting stack on the new building. Since its operation is highly efficient with 70% air recirculation, its energy consumption is lower. Due to this environmentally-friendly technology, Porsche was able to beat the statutory limits by a large margin.
