According to CEO Matthias Mueller, it appears that Porsche may launch production in North America but also in China in order to double its annual global sales to an impressive 200,000 units. Same Mueller added that the company’s current factories found in Zuffenhausen, Germany (near Stuttgart and Leipzig) are currently too small in order to achieve the ambitious goals. "We will consider this year whether to start production in Asia or North America," Mueller told the German magazine Focus. Moreover, the German magazine also added that Porsche might build the upcoming Cajun small SUV in China in the Volkswagen factory that currently builds the Audi Q5.

In another interview with WirtschaftsWoche magazine, Mueller also said that a possible production in North America and China would not break a taboo, since the Boxster was produced at Valmet plant in Finland. "We are OK as long as we can say our cars are 'engineered by Porsche,'" he told the magazine. Furthermore, Porsche’s sales in the United States, firm’s most important market has recovered to its pre-crisis level of 2007 and not it is very important for the German manufacturer to achieve its growth target.
