According to the latest media reports, it appears that Porsche still has plans for a convertible version of the Panamera but this new car will come only when the second-generation will be introduced. This means that you should wait for the new car only after 2015, the year when the second-generation Porsche Panamera will make its debut on the market. But, there is a reason for delaying the Panamera Convertible based on the current generation: the German manufacturer needs to satisfy the demand for the current model in order to focus on other variations of its popular sedan. As you may know already, Porsche announced that thank to the new Cayenne and the Panamera, its sales are more than triple now.
Honestly to tell you, that’s a damn good reason to delay the Panamera Convertible. And, to keep things interesting, we do admit that we’d love to see a Panamera S Hybrid Convertible – an all-in-one vehicle: a Porsche, a convertible and a hybrid. For those who don’t know, the Porsche Panamera S Hybrid was recently unveiled at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show and it is the latest addition in the Porsche lineup. The car is powered by a V6 engine delivering 333 hp (245 kW) and by a 47 hp (34 kW) electric motor. This means a total output of 380 hp (279 kW). The car can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.0 seconds and has a top speed at 270 km/h (168 mph). The fuel consumption is also impressive: 6.8 l/100 km (41.54 mpg imp.) based on the NEDC and CO2 emissions of just 159 g/km.
