Details of a powerful, special edition track-oriented car from Porsche have been leaked online. Porsche is known for bridging the gap between models, i.e., the Cayman has an output that fits between that of the Boxster and the 911 sportcar. Rumors of a more powerful model have actually been around for several months now but the specifications have only been leaked recently. Porsche is reportedly working on a GT3 RS 4.0 that’s expected to provide about 500hp from the 4-liter flat-six -- bridging the gap between the GT3 RS and the GT3 Cup. It has an extra 50hp over the current GT3 RS, which is higher by 15 hp compared to the standard GT3. In this spec sheet, we see that it has a €150,000 price tag before tax. It’s valued at €180,000 after 20 percent VAT. Even with the high price, this model is expected to sell quickly. The new car will get the same six-speed manual gearbox with a short-throw gear lever.

This is optimized to have reduced weight and high efficiency. So that the performance is enhanced throughout the entire range of engine and road speeds, the gears have a shorter transmission ratio than on the 911 GT3. It’s clear that Porsche deliberately made concessions when it comes to higher top speed. Who wouldn’t want additional gadgets, interior luxuries and performance boosts in their vehicles? Porsche probably knew that as they have very high prices. For example, a lightweight battery has a price tag of €1,929, its Ceramic Composite Breaks cost €8,784 and the nose-lift apparatus to protect the bumper from speed traps is priced at €3,000. But a word of warning, this spec sheet on the Teamspeed forum may not even be genuine. Several inconsistencies were seen such as when it stated 2011 model year instead of 2012 and it has indications that it may be intended for the British market.
