It’s not a secret anymore that Porsche will debut the all-new 911 (dubbed 991) this September, at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, right? Meanwhile, we found out that Porsche is working on a hybrid version of the 991, according to unofficial sources. How we know this? Apparently, the test mules spotted in California were recently spied at a gas station. Of course, there is nothing weird about this, but according to people who saw the test mule, the car was not making any noise when it appeared at the gas station. This confirms all the rumors about a hybrid version of the 911. More...

Porsche has very very big plans and wants to expand its lineup in order to achieve impressive sales. As you may know already, the Porsche Panamera is already a big success but it appears that Porsche wants to create a smaller version of its sedan in order to take on a new segment on the market. For those who don’t know, the Porsche Panamera is a rival for cars such as the Audi A8, Bmw 7-Series and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. What Porsche wants now, is to create a new vehicle, smaller than the Panamera, in order to take on cars such as the Bmw 5-Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the Audi A6. Dubbed Pajun, the new vehicle is already under development, according to German magazine Autobild. More...

According to the latest media reports, it appears that Porsche still has plans for a convertible version of the Panamera but this new car will come only when the second-generation will be introduced. This means that you should wait for the new car only after 2015, the year when the second-generation Porsche Panamera will make its debut on the market. But, there is a reason for delaying the Panamera Convertible based on the current generation: the German manufacturer needs to satisfy the demand for the current model in order to focus on other variations of its popular sedan. As you may know already, Porsche announced that thank to the new Cayenne and the Panamera, its sales are more than triple now. More...

Porsche is now offering the exclusive 911 Turbo S “Edition 918 Spyder”, a limited edition celebrating the production of the new supercar. Just like the 918 Spyder, the production of the Porsche 911 Turbo S “Edition 918 Spyder” will be limited to no more than 918 units, but do expect to get some extra features for this. According to Porsche, the new special edition is inspired by the 918 Spyder's characteristic individual features. Some of these include acid green features such as the specific and part-embroidered model logos and seams, the instrument cluster needles, the specific PCM screen and illuminated door entry guards. The car will also feature a limited edition badge on the glove compartment lid, which can be the same number as the 918 Spyder the customer has ordered. Moreover, the new 911 Turbo S “Edition 918 Spyder” can also be ordered in the same colour as your upcoming 918 Spyder. More...

German car magazine AutoBild reported that Porsche will launch the compact SUV in a three-door body style adding that the Cajun will have a sporty character to differentiate it from the Audi Q5. Porsche originally intended to launch the Cajun as a five-door model, but later decided it would be better to start off with a three-door variant since it doesn't want to affect the sales of the Q5, upon which the Cajun is based. The Stuttgart automaker also feared that a five-door Cajun might threaten the Cayenne as well, so the company is said to have decided to give its smaller SUV a much more dynamic appearance. However, Porsche did not exclude a five-door version in the near future. In order to hide the family relationship with the Audi Q5, the Cajun will have unique body panels and a coupe-like profile, wider and lower body, shorter wheelbase and smaller front/rear overhangs. Currently, the most expensive car in Porsche portfolio is the 911 GT2 RS, costing a bank-account draining $245,000. When the limited-edition Porsche 918 Spyder hits the company’s dealerships it will steal that title costing more than $500,000 – and that’s because the 918 will be very limited and very technologically advanced. However, that leaves a big gap between the 911 GT2 RS and the 918 Spyder. So what’s Porsche going to do to fill that gap? More...

Due to financial and legal hurdles, Volkswagen AG's planned merger with Porsche SE could be delayed into 2012. The integration is already in full swing with regards to manufacturing. Porsche said a longer-than-expected probe into allegations of share-price manipulation by two former board members is likely to push completion of the merger into 2012. Porsche recently said that while the probability of success decreases as the process drags out, it believes the merger will go ahead. In 2010, VW already said that the merger may be held up by U.S. lawsuits and German tax disputes. As VW and Porsche are working on such issues, they are moving on with the merger on the factory floor. More...

Porsche's return to the Detroit Show after a four year-absence is marked with the introduction of a new racing concept based on the company's 918 Spyder from last year's Geneva Salon. The 918 RSR is a two-seat mid-engined coupe, and according to Porsche, it demonstrates what happens when the technology fitted in the 911 GT3 R Hybrid race car and the design of the 918 Spyder concept are combined together. The motorsports version of the 918 Spyder concept car gets a V8 engine based on the RS Spyder race car's 3.4-liter unit tuned to deliver 563HP at 10,300 rpm, and is linked to a six-speed racing transmission with shift paddles that feeds the rear wheels.
